Meeting Follow up

This is a follow up to the meeting tonight. Our guest was Craig O'Daniel (see previous post) Our league discussed workshop places and monthly display possibilities. We talked about verifying the email address, upcoming shows and workshops.

Membership applications need to be filled out and returned to Beverly Ground C/O Palette of Roses Art League P.O. Box 131633 Tyler, TX 75713-1633 along with dues. If you did not receive one, email me and I will be glad to forward one to you. Also, the Mineola Art League POSTMARK deadline is April 25th for entry into their show. May 8th is preview and the show opens to the public May 9th. Entry forms are available at http://www.mlota.org/ Please print your own forms to save on printing and postage if you are able.

We have an opportunity for a workshop with Linda Lucas Hardy if we have enough interest. So far I have approx. 6 people interested. I have spoken with Linda and her schedule is filling up and if I don't get more interest (commitments) we will have to postpone.

Please consider the Hostess position for the Preview night. I truly believe it will go smoother this year. You will have more time and servers to assist you. Maybe more than one of you would like to work together to alleviate some of the time burden.

Instruction by our members:

I would like to let you know that Betty Knight will be teaching a workshop in Mineola on watercolor wash over pen and ink. She will be holding the workshop March 26th from 9:30 -4:00PM. Cost is $35.00 for members and $40.00 for non-members. Please look on your membership lists for contact information.
Robin Enneking is teaching an ongoing 6 week course in colored pencil at Hobby Lobby Mondays 9:00 - 11:00AM and the cost is $60.00 for the entire course and an optional $10.00 palette guide created by Linda Lucas Hardy.

PORAL upcoming Meeting

I have requested Craig O'Daniel come to our February meeting to demonstrate / present information and techniques of appropriate framing and matting. Craig recently opened the gallery and frameshop "For the Love of Art" located on Broadway in Tyler. Thank you Craig for accepting and we look forward to seeing you. Our meeting will be held at the Atria Willow Park (3500 S. Vine in Tyler, TX) ASSISTED LIVING lecture room. Remember we are temporarily displaced to the opposite end of the building until reconstruction is complete on our end. Please come to the general meeting at 7:00PM on Thursday February 21st, 2008.

Pictures from our wonderful 55th Annual Palette of Roses Art Show. What a successful show we had! Over 500 people in attendance and more sales than in the past 10 years or so. I am so proud to be a part of this organization and the chair for the past 2 years. Thank you all of you members and families for all of your help!

Donations for Show

I got a response today from Dick Blick Art Materials and I am expecting them to send a $25.oo gift certificate if we "qualify" which I think we will.

I am also having them ship catalogs to distribute at registration.

Today's meeting

We held a chairperson meeting today 9/08 and there were 4 chairs + me present. We discussed proceedures and a few added detailsThis year we are going to have a few additions in several areas. More door prizes (we think), presentation certificates with Best of Awards, and an added monetary Junior Division Award. We are still needing a good publicity person and lots of helpers in several areas.

Show Chairperson Meeting

This Saturday September 8th at 10:00 AM we will have a show chairperson meeting at my home in to "nail down" the information of the 2007 Show. Please bring you ideas and questions and we will work together to answer the questions.

Meeting and Demonstrator for September

We will have our monthly general membership meeting Thursday September 20th at 7:00PM at the Atria Willow Park nursing center 3500 S. Vine, Tyler. We will have a brief board meeting, membership vote for door prize offering and officers and more show information. This will be followed by a demonstration by watercolorist and member Debbie Cannatella.
